During this time of COVID Lockdowns and cancellations it has been difficult to be inspired and energised to paint. Restrictions have enabled me to spend more time contemplating and studying both the paint pigments, natural environment, the garden and how seasons and days seem to have their own particular character and colouring. In these studies I have tried to create colours expressive of the moment. It was interesting to discover how in using these restricted shapes they symbolise how we were locked down where everyday was the same but different. Taking the image out of the composition allows you to ponder the power of colour and the quality of the pigment.
