Keming was born in Shanghai in 1954. He graduated from The Shanghai Light Industry College (Arts Department) in 1982, majoring in graphic design. After graduation, he worked for The Shanghai Art Design Company as a Graphic Designer, as well as freelancing as an illustrator for a publishing house, and two Shanghai newspapers.
Following that, he taught at The East China Normal University (Fine Arts Department) until arriving in Australia in 1988. There, he concentrated on commercial art - two and a half years as a freelance Graphic Artist at the University of Melbourne Publications & Printing Services Design Studio, and then full time for a further four years for two art companies as a designer and painter. In 1995 he established his own graphic design studio.
In 2004 he recommenced painting (fine arts) and shortly after began teaching at Jiotto Studio in Fitzroy, specialising in portraits and still life. In mid 2006, he started teaching at Malvern Artists' Society, and later at Brighton Artist Society and Glen Eira Artists' Society. Keming currently teaches at Malvern Artists' Society and in his own studio.
He specialises in oil paintings of people and everyday life, capturing the vibrancy and colour of Australia. He has always been interested in painting people, believing that the honest depiction of everyday scenes can be the most evocative. His vibrant and colourful paintings display an Australia which is teeming with life and culture, revealing unsaid narratives in their compositions and atmosphere.
