Official Opening 2pm Saturday 26 August
Location: Frater, Hammond & McCubbin Galleries, 24 August to 5 September. Cato Gallery, 7 to 11 September.
This 2023 exhibition will feature a large body of work, with more than 100 oil paintings all completed within the last 12 months. All are painted ‘direct from life’ including still life, portraiture, florals and landscapes, many of which feature the rural farm life of central Victoria.
Gregory would like to think that all he displays is an attempt to convey a little of the essence of his visual experience when painting no matter what the subject.
Some works are painted quickly in an attempt to capture an effect in light that sometimes only lasts a few minutes, such as with dawn or dusk. While some paintings such as ‘still life’ become a more thorough investigation where time isn’t the issue.
With over 40 years painting experience and over 30 years as an art teacher, Gregory believes all paintings become valuable lessons in observation and hence a higher quality of artwork.
Any success needs to be measured through the eyes of the viewer, which is an important part of any solo show.

We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
