Inspired Glass, French Acrylic on Canvas by Zulu, Highly Commended 2023
One of three Select Exhibitions held each year by VAS. The Autumn exhibition features the $1000 exhibition prize and $500 sculpture prize.
Works entered into the VAS Autumn Exhibition must not have been previously exhibited at VAS. Digital works will not be included in this exhibition.
See the current exhibition terms and conditions here.
A selection process will be undertaken by Committee based on quality, execution and presentation of works. Entrants will be advised by email if their works are selected.
All current members of VAS are encouraged to vote in the VAS Autumn Exhibition. Votes go towards inclusion in the Artist of the Year Award Exhibition.
Please join us for the opening and awards presentation cocktail event, Saturday 13 April from 7pm
The judge for this year's Autumn Exhibition shall be Amanda Hyatt.
Amanda is an ‘alla Prima’ artist working instinctively, directly, immediately and spontaneously making maximum impact with deliberate brushstrokes. Her paintings embrace romance and employ the skills of creating tonal contrast, a sense of light and time, Impressionism and chiaroscuro.
Amanda has held forty solo exhibitions, and numerous joint exhibitions in New York, China, the UK, and recently in Rome. She also teaches both nationally and internationally including Italy, France, England, Ireland, and Antarctica.

You can bring your artwork into the building for the VAS Autumn Select Exhibition on:
Wednesday 10 April between 11am and before 7pm.
Members may submit up to 1 artwork and 3 sculptures.
The entry fee is $20 per artwork ($30 for large works with a combined height and width of over 180cm) and can be paid upon entry. The minimum sales price for works is $400: any works entered for less than this will be listed as $400 by default.
We encourage you to take up the option of entering work on our online gallery.
Click on the link to view the instructional video below showing you how to enter your art work online. Online entries must be uploaded to the online gallery by Tuesday 9 April for processing.
Please note that this is a two step process. You must first upload your artwork to your profile, and then enter it into the exhibition. Simply uploading the work does not automatically enter it into the exhibition.
Remember to bring your artwork into the galleries if you enter the work online. Works are assessed in person, not using online entries. All entry fee payment for this exhibition shall be in person.
Online viewing for the VAS Autumn Exhibition will open on Monday 15 April with all artworks for sale.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
