I’m the daughter of Australian landscape artist, John Canning, I am an artisan in residence at The Artist Coop, Skipper Studio, Montsalvat Eltham, Wife of Adam Griggs (clown doctor) and mother of Mia and Ruben and I am known for my work in advocacy for inclusive art. I was a dancer with The Australian Ballet Co.; an actress with the Melbourne Theatre Co., Playbox and for the ABC and I was the Director for eMotion21 and National Theatre Ballet School (Acting). I have taught for the Victorian Art Centre; Arts Access; National Theatre and UniMelb in +50 schools throughout Vic. I have exhibited internationally and at Span; Manyung; Canning Arts; Montsalvat and many more. I also created 100 square meter murals for the Melbourne Aquarium and have large works in many private houses - Including for Jellis Craig. I am a doctor of behavioural neuroscience under my married name Dr Joanne Griggs and a published author i.e. “Miracle in Potential” 2010, launched by The Honorable Bill Shorten. This work is my passion, art as Early Intervention and I now work in extending the art skills of people with disabilities.
