Black cockatoo in mineral based/luminescent watercolour, against gold background. This work draw upon Japanese style yohaku no bi (the beauty of blank space) and ma (a pause or interval), where empty areas act as a positive, intentional, and living element that balances composition and invites viewer reflection. It also plays with the concept of black, using colour and luminescent pigment to depict tone and light.
