'Watercolour and pastels are my passion. Capturing the light and spontaneity of the moment is always the challenge. I like to tell the story without overloading the viewer with detail.'

Anne grew up in North Queensland and following a career in teaching eventually settled in Eltham, Victoria in the late 80’s. Although her lifelong passion was always about art, there was no opportunity for formal training until the mid 2000’s when she had tuition in watercolour with Bryan Fitzgerald and pastels with Barbara McManus. Membership of various art societies and exhibitions honed her craft in these two mediums.
Her style is Realist Impressionism and while she loves both watercolour and pastel, it is the subject matter which usually determines the use of one medium over the other.
Her watercolour style tends to be fast and wet, preferring sweeping landscapes and seascapes. Richly coloured and sometimes more detailed subjects often work better for pastels which are applied in a bold and energetic fashion.
'I want my work to have the essence of realism but still show creative processes with minimal washes and brushstrokes.'
Anne has won numerous art awards and had several successful solo and joint exhibitions over the last decade. She was AGRA’s Medallion Winner in 2016 and awarded the Terry Collins Award in 2021.
