Bachelor of Education (Arts & Crafts) Melb. with Majors in Painting and Fine Arts (Eastern Arts and Culture) and Minor in Metalcraft (Jewellery Making)
Early Highlights:
Early art work in gallery scene of the film Rikky and Pete, which made it into the London Film Festival in 1988
Received ongoing mentoring within a year out of uni from Ian Sime, at which time I was inspired to explore the subconscious drivers of my art. This awareness has helped alot to steer my creative process over the years. I also learned alot about mixed media applications from Ian, which I still use to this day.
Other Highlights:
My Year 10 students received a high commendation for their entry into a tram mural competition which reflected favourably upon the school.
Commissions include the painting of Australian flora and fauna on 83 street planters for landscape application in an inner Melbourne suburb, private commissions for portrait drawings and paintings, murals for children's rooms and personal meditation mandalas.
Hamsa art donation to the Art Aid Gippsland Auction helped those affected by the Black Summer fires.
Exhibited in various group shows over about thirty years including Melbourne Uni, ROAR Studios, Ufitzi Galleries, Women's Gallery, Walker Street Gallery, Linden, Kingston Arts, Gippsland Art Gallery, VAS, CAS, BSG, Red Gallery amongst others and my art work may be found in private collections both locally and overseas.
I am a full time practicing artist and I currently work from my home studios, in oils, acrylics and mixed media. In 2022 I was diagnosed with full blown Hashimoto's disease which was at a critical point and required swift medical intervention. It has taken a few years to properly integrate this prior emergency situation. Part of the disease causes random changes in temperament, which is reflected in my artistic output. In some ways it is challenging to present a portfolio of work that is cohesive, in other ways it is a blessing as I am inspired to think outside the box. For this profile I endeavour to present my more representational art for the sake of cohesion.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
