Last night, with members, artists, guests, sponsors and supporters in attendance, the Victorian Artists Society announced Gwendoline Krumins VAS as the winner of the prestigious 2021 VAS Mavis Little Artist of the Year Award, sponsored by the Hansen Little Foundation, and Ellen Jenkins as the winner of the 2021 Victorian Artists Society Sculptor of the Year Award.
Gregory R Smith VAS FVAS was announced as the winner of the 2021 Members Choice Award sponsored by Design Framing, with Ron Reynolds VAS, winning the 2021 Exhibitors Choice Award sponsored by Noel Waite AO.
Eileen Mackley AM, President of the Victorian Artists Society said we are honoured to receive the generous sponsorship for the prestigious 'VAS Mavis Little Artist of the Year Award' by the Hansen Little Foundation.
Members of the Little Family and the Hansen Little Foundation attended the opening of the Exhibition and Mr Paul Little AO, announced Gwendoline Krumins VAS as the winner of the 2021 VAS Mavis Little Artist of the Year Award.
The VAS Mavis Little Artist of the Year Award Exhibition is the final Exhibition of the year, featuring selected Victorian Artists Society artists who have received the highest number of votes by members and artists from select exhibitions during the year.
This award is unique as it is not awarded by a committee or judge, but by the peers of the winning artist and demands sustained performance over the exhibiting year. Peer votes from the 2021 VAS Mavis Little Artist of the Year Award Exhibition are added to the yearly votes. The Award of $10,000, sponsored by the Hansen Little Foundation, is presented to the artist who has acquired the most votes.

The Victorian Artists Society 2021 Sculptor of the Year Award, (comprising a Trophy and $500 prize) was presented to Sculptor Ellen Jenkins, who received the highest number of votes throughout the year including votes gained from this final Exhibition.

The Members’ Choice Award, sponsored by Design Framing to the value of $500 was awarded to Gregory R Smith VAS FVAS for gaining the most votes from non-exhibiting members throughout the year.

This is a biennial award which aims to encourage students of all ages to advance in the naturalistic style of portraiture.
The 2021 Scholarship is for $5000, going towards the acquisition of the winning artwork by the Victorian Artists Society, which will enable the winning artist to further progress their painting practice.
