Ying Tang

About Ying TANG （唐影）

Ying Tang was born in Hubei province in China and studied art at the Hubei University of Fine Arts . After graduating she worked as an artist and art teacher . Winning prizes at local and national levels in China , she was invited to join the Chinese Artist Society . She also received recognition for her works at competitions in Taiwan , Canada and Japan .

 As a trained artist , Ying has used many mediums in her art . Her favourite medium is watercolour but has also used oils , enamel and ink . Ceramics and sculpture in wood are also a part of her artistic vision . Watercolour paper , rice paper , canvas and board have all been used in her works . Ying blends traditional Chinese style and techniques with those of European schools of art , a blending which creates an original style . She is very much aware of how water flows across different papers and can adapt her works to follow the water .

 Ying moved to Australia in 2011 and continued her passion for art . Her new country provided inspiration for her work , travel to Broken Hill and the Snowy Mountains led to the creation of her Outback and Mountain series of works . She has held a number of exhibitions in Victoria and has found success in a number of art competitions including a prize at the Camberwell Rotary Art Show and the Australian Watercolour Society among others . In February 2019 she was selected to participate in the " Masters of Watercolour " Exhibition held at the Melbourne Media House Gallery .

 Nature has provided inspiration for Ying , not as a photographic or realistic rendering , but as a means for her to interpret what she sees around her . Her interpretations can vary from an impressionistic view of the subject to one that is quite abstract .
