This is a secular attempt a religious art because I wanted a painting that reminds me how to turn up in life. This is a painting that depicts the safety available to the spirit - rather than the body - when we turn up with wholehearted courage. There is a reason we admire those who truly understand that it is better to die on our feet than to live on our knees... and I do not intend to live controlled by fear anymore.
