Updated 27 November 2023.
The below terms and conditions apply to any and all purchases made within the VAS Studio. By making a purchase of a class or workshop, you agree that you have read and accepted our terms and conditions.
This policy applies to all VAS Studio enrolments from 27 November 2023.
The VAS Studio is only able to offer refunds for course withdrawals made 14 days before the first class of term. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund or credit made after this time.
Credits are valid for up to 12 months after the date of issue. Please contact the office directly to use a credit.
Classes may be cancelled if there are insufficient enrolments. In this instance, students can choose between the options of a full refund, credit, or transfer of enrolment to a different available class.
Teachers for classes are subject to change due to availability. All efforts will be taken to ensure the quality and content of the class is maintained.
Please return all VAS items to their correct places after use. This includes easels to the northwest corner, still life items to their correct shelves, chairs, tables, fabrics and any other materials. Kindly do not remove any items from the studio without express permission of VAS staff.
Please ensure lids are kept on your materials whenever not in active use. This includes placing lids on solvents at all times throughout sessions. Odourless solvents are strongly preferred.
The studio sink is exclusively for art materials. This sink is fitted with a sediment separator. Please do not use this sink for any perishable remnants. This includes not rinsing tea or coffee cups. These substances make the sediment separator smell, which is intensely unpleasant to all and requires a $675 call out fee each time it needs to be cleaned.
Kitchen access is available when the kitchen is not otherwise in use. There is no guarantee that access or fridge space will be available for all sessions. When caterers are working in the kitchen, kindly do not enter as this is a health safety issue with food preparation. Hot water for tea and coffee can be obtained from the coffee cart instead at these times.
When using the kitchen, please do not use items in staff cabinets as these are property of individuals and not for general use.
Please consider our heritage plumbing when using restroom facilities. Flushing of inappropriate items - including sanitary pads and adult diapers - causes blockages that require specialised equipment and access through the gallery floors to clear out and costs over $3000 each time. We would much rather have these funds go towards our studio resources! Kindly use the sanitary bins provided for all such items.
If your class will be working with a model, please review and adhere to the Life Model Society Working Conditions.
Artists are especially reminded not to enter or exit the studio while a model is posing, and not to use their phone while the model is in the room.
Any requests for poses etc. should be directed to your monitor or teacher as the facilitator. Please keep a respectful 1.5 metre distance from the model unless you have asked permission.
VAS Gallery does not take responsibility for work left in the studio. We request all artists retrieve their work in a timely period (suggested: 2 weeks).
Please don't hesitate to contact us via email (lucy@vasgallery.org.au) if you have any questions or concerns.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
