Norma Bull

Norma Bull was a painter, printmaker and etcher best known for her paintings and sketches in the UK during WW2. She studied at the National Gallery of Victoria art School and relocated to London in 1939. An exhibition of her sketches of bombing damage in Bristol was held in Bath in 1941. In 1947 an exhibition of her wartime work was held at Australia House in London and attended by Queen Elizabeth II who purchased nine of her paintings for the Royal Collection. Norma is the founder and sponsor of the VAS Norma Bull Portraiture Prize awarded annually to young portrait painters. On her return to Australia Norma continued to paint landscapes and seascapes often at her holiday homes in Anglesea and Bright. She was a nature lover and promoter of forest conservation.
