Born in the UK in 1894, Orlando Dutton was apprenticed to an architectural firm in England before enlisting in WW1. He migrated to Australia in 1920 eventually settling in Melbourne and working as a stone mason on the Shrine of Remembrance. He was commissioned to make sculptures foe corporate and public buildings. Orlando Dutton was President of the Victorian Artists Society from 1946 to 1948 and his work is represented in the NGV and the Art Gallery of South Australia.
