This exhibition brings together outstanding life drawings and paintings by VAS artists, selected from submissions by award-winning and emerging talent alike, each chosen to feature in our 2027 fundraising calendar. Proceeds go directly toward long-overdue studio improvements: new ventilation and air conditioning for the working spaces our artists rely on every day

Original artworks are available for purchase alongside the calendar featuring a selection of our favourites. It’s a show built on an old joke and an older tradition: the body, observed and rendered with genuine skill. Tasteful, timeless, and just a little bit tongue-in-cheek, these works make the case that some things are simply better rendered in paint than in a text message.

Submission information for artists

VAS Artists can submit up to two works for consideration on the Member portal, with submissions closing September 30 2026. Artists selected for the calendar print will be required to provide complete, high resolution images suitable for fine art printing.

Additional or unselected works can be exhibited as part of the accompanying show, The Figure From Life.
