
A paraphrase is a free treatment of someone else's work or expression of the same event or the same idea in a different way. Give credit to the author - indicating where the idea comes from is a must.
The most important rules of paraphrasing: Render the author's idea in new form and, preferably, in another structure.
In this masterclass, artists will step "into shoes" of famous artists self-portraits. The idea is to replace the existing self-portrait with theirs.
For this exercise we will use two well-known masterpieces by Artemisia Gentileschi and Francis Bacon. Technique will be soft pastel plus charcoal.
Expected Benefit of this Master class:
1. Learning from masters, and simultaneously applying own input. Dialogue "Face to Face"?
2. Learn how to formulate their ideas verbally in order to be able to defend them.
3. My teaching emphasis will focus on expressing students’ individuality and nurture their unique characteristics and preferences.
4. Group discussion will be encouraged.
Material needed: set of soft pastels, charcoal, mirror size A4 or bigger, pastel paper size A3, fixative
