Bill Harding was born in Melbourne and was a student, friend and painting companion of William Frater. Harding utilized a straightforward approach to painting adopting simple motifs and free expressive brushwork. Bill was president of the Vas from 1991 to 1995 and its Artist of the year in 1991. He was awarded the Geelong Gallery Acquisitive prize in 1961 and 1962 and is also represented in the Bendigo, Castlemaine and Benalla regional galleries as well as Deakin and Monash Universities in Melbourne.
