I was born in Yugoslavia. After my graduation from the Nursing School in Belgrade I spent twelve years in Austria where I worked in Intensive Care and Rehabilitation. Cultural life of Vienna was a treat and I traveled quite often. When I moved to Australia I had the wonderful opportunity to study drawing, watercolour, pastel and oil painting in classes, workshops and through many art publications. I loved pastels for their vibrancy and immediacy and for years I have experimented working on different surfaces and ways of using the medium. It was a challenge to find out how to use oil paint and achieve the purity and vibrancy of colour similar to pastels. Glazing is one way, though I may have achieved that recently by using the palette knife. My choice of subject may change yet I am always guided by my feeling for the subject I paint. Over two decades I have exhibited my work regularly and I have held two Solo Exhibitions. I have been the Signatory Member of the Victorian Artists Society since 2007 and I have served on the VAS Council for eight years. Most of that time as the Convenor and Curator of the members exhibitions. I am particularly proud to have been the VAS Councillor during the major restoration of our building. Previously I spent a number of years serving on the Committee and the Council of HAS and AGRA.
In 2023 I was awarded Honorary Fellow of the VAS and early in 2024 I am humbled and honoured to have become the Fellow of the Victorian Artists Society.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
