Have you been curious about trying oils? Do you want to learn how to use oil paint without the toxic fumes? Come to this 4.5-hour workshop led by Lucy Maddox to learn how to make the jump into oil painting without the up-front expense and commitment of buying materials. Learners will be provided with samples of paint to use, as well as painting brushes, tools and surfaces - and you will walk away with a finished piece!

In this workshop we will:

• Discuss the differences between water-based and oil-based painting

• Experiment with basic oil techniques, such as blending and rubbing back

• Learn how to work with and clean oil paints safely and without solvents

• Practice techniques by painting from direct observation.

A still life set-up for observational painting will be provided. Alternatively, feel free to bring in a reference photograph or a collection of objects of your own if you have a particular idea you would like to bring to life in oils.
