This still life was painted during my studies at the Florence Academy of Art. The colour scheme is simple, which allowed me to focus on the capturing the perspective of this piece. Perspective is created through the careful placement of each object in this scene and the application of the paint, which is thick where the natural light touches the objects of interest and thin in the background. The contrast of thick and thin paint, hard edges and lost edges, and the design of shadows and the light are the key elements that compose this image.
