Description

Discover the art of portrait painting in a relaxed and supportive environment, perfect for both beginners and developing artists. This 10-week course introduces you to the indirect painting method—a traditional, layered approach that builds depth, realism, and subtle expression using acrylics.

The course is broken into three engaging stages:

Weeks 1–4: Colour Study
Begin with a colour study from a reference photo. You'll explore tone, colour application, and glazing techniques—foundational skills for building lifelike portraits with depth and vibrancy.

Weeks 5–6: Drawing the Figure
Shift your focus to drawing from life. Working with a model, these sessions will cover the fundamentals of proportion, form, and gesture, helping you develop confidence in capturing the human figure.

Weeks 7–10: Painting from Life
Apply everything you've learned in an extended painting study from a live model. Over three of the four weeks, you'll move from sketch to a finished figurative portrait. The final week is dedicated to refining and completing your painting.

Whether you're new to portraiture or looking to build on existing skills, this course offers a clear, hands-on pathway to more expressive and confident portrait painting.
