Lewis Miller trained at the Victorian College of the Arts in the 1970s.Since winning the Hugh Ramsay Portrait prize in 1981 he has been an Archibald finalist fifteen times winning in 1998. In 2003 he was appointed as Australia’s official war artist in the Gulf War recording SAS activities and mine clearing by the RAN in the Persian Gulf. Lewis has on several occasions been artist-in-residence at the Cold Spring Harbour Laboratory in New York.
