Watercolour is a challenging medium. With some foresight, we can make our job as artists a bit more approachable, and our painting more dynamic. In my workshops, I emphasize building confidence in painting. Making confident decisions will build stronger paintings. We will explore how to work with our source material to create more interesting compositions. Using strong shapes, good value range, and creating effects of light we can make our paintings more personal and interesting. I'll help to loosen up those brushstrokes as well.

The class will use selected photos and weather permitting, some outdoor observation and sketching time. Sketching and painting are greatly helped with some work outdoors. Colour choices and mixing, painting techniques, brushwork, and paper choices will be covered. We will start with some studies and do at least one finished painting per day.
