Carved in Pilbara Jade from around the Pilbara Region in Western Australia, this stone is both difficult to access and extremely hard to carve and generally contains flaws. Consequently I had to use diamond tipped saw blades and other cutting tools.
I have endeavoured to carve overlapping leaves of varying sizes using as much undercutting that I could to distinguish each leaf through light and dark variations and give an overall flowing harmonious appearance.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
