A VAS Members exclusive workshop!
Join us in the scenic location of Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens to further your en plein air journey. Supported by VAS artist T. J. Murphy, you will be guided through the practice of painting outdoors in this picturesque spot.
We will cover a variety of topics including:
Composition
Tones/values
Edges
Colour
Paint application and quality
The aim of the workshop is to enhance our visual understanding of the world and how to replicate that using traditional materials and techniques. By the end we should have the skills necessary to feel confident heading out into the world on our own painting adventures!
Please note that this offsite workshop is running in tandem with our special second 2026 Members Paint Out Trip. If you haven't been on a plein air weekend before, we recommend taking T. J. Murphy's introduction workshop at Lake Daylesford the day before first. Participants are welcome to stay on for the remainder of the weekend.
VAS Membership is required to join this workshop. Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens is approximately 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne.
