Margaret Cowling was born in WA and obtained her Diploma of Art (Illustration) at the RMIT Melbourne in 1960. She was Assistant to the State Artist of Victoria Harold Freeman (History of Transport mural and History of Geelong mosaic).Margaret taught watercolour painting and during the 1990s conducted painting tours of Italy and Sicily. Margaret Cowling’s watercolour portraits were hung in the Portia Geach Memorial Award in Sydney’s S.H. Ervin gallery in 1993,1994 and 1997. Margaret was VAS Artist of the Year (AOTY) in 1990 and 1992.
