Opening Event Sunday 29 September at 2pm
Location: Frater, McCubbin, Hammond & Cato Galleries
The Melbourne Society of Women Painters & Sculptors (MSWPS) began in 1902 when a small group of former students from the National Gallery School Melbourne resolved to form a club of art students 'for the purpose of securing mutual help and sympathy in their work and keeping up the old friendships, which had been so pleasant to each and all in the past'.
Last year’s exhibition was a standout with works of international quality and amazing variety. This year, MSWPS will aim even higher. Artworks specially created by nearly 90 members will be on show for Changing Perspectives 2024, its 115th Annual Exhibition. Share in the excitement at the Victorian Artists Society Galleries from Friday, 27 September to Monday, 7 October.
As well as over 100 impressive paintings and drawings, eye catching sculptures in glass, metal, ceramic and wood will be shown. The artworks are a credit to the women who created them, many of whom have developed their artistic talents throughout their lives. Others have retired from professional careers or raising their families and are now free to explore their creativity.
Artworks may be purchased at the exhibition or online at www.mswps.com.au until 21 October. Artist’s profiles/ biographies may also be viewed on the website.
Everyone is welcome to MSWPS Annual Exhibition and special event. Put the dates in your diary now.
