My friend recently visited the red centre and took a beautiful photo of the King's Billabong with a Pelican on a rock. I loved the colours, the feeling of stillness and the reflections and knew it would be perfect for the 9x5 surface. I chose not to sand or prime the surface before painting and I love the way the translucent acrylic wash seeps into the woodgrain of the panel, particularly in the reflection areas of the composition.
