Joanne Mihelcic
As a self-taught Melbourne based contemporary artist I work mostly in painting botanicals, still life and printmaking.
I am inspired by botanical subjects and vessels: creating primarily with watercolours and acrylic ink which can be layered and glazed to reflect brilliant colours and light.
My work is influenced by the concept of bricolage where I bring together objects from disparate sources and contexts to construct something new and of the imagination.
I am continuously learning and experimenting with new subjects and materials; developing practices in portraiture and urban/life sketching.
