Inaction was an experimental exercise in capturing the play of light and shadow through choosing glass rather than solid objects. I found that painting three empty vases resulted in a more tonal piece that is easier to digest as a whole. Painting gouache on wood was another new experience for me. The paint took longer to dry and even when it appeared to be dry, it sat in a thicker layer on the surface which resulted in a different appearance to working on paper. Nonetheless it has opened ideas for new techniques.
