Friday 20th March, 6.30pm
Location: Cato Gallery

The exhibition charts the sources of inspiration behind Hazel’s diverse practice of drawing, painting, creative writing and dance: from tapestry woven in 1400’s in France, to Florence and the Italian Renaissance. This small but powerful, multi-disciplinary exhibition in the Cato Gallery will surprise and delight those who visit to explore all the influences which have conspired to deliver a once-in-a-lifetime show.
Hazel’s multi-disciplinary practice includes the composition of a children’s ballet - The Magic Peacock in 2001. The work was revised and adopted by Leaps and Bounds Dance School in Sale, Gippsland and was brought to life on stage at the Wedge Theatre in December 2022.
An excerpt from the ballet can be viewed at the exhibition, which also features the costume, mask and set designs.
History
DMT Arts International emerged in Bass Coast in 2001 to answer the needs of local and selected metropolitan artists to exhibit and promote their work to a regional audience.
Hazel’s tutoring young people with ID and Autism in drawing and painting under the NDIS has been a significant source of inspiration.
