Oil on 9mm AA grade marine plywood panel, sealed with premium quality varnish for protection. Framed in Tasmanian Oak, floating style frame with wire, ready to hang. This painting is an expression of my love for a gumtree that I see almost every day in the local bushland in my neighbourhood. On a rainy day walking home, I noticed all the reds and pinks of its bark glowing mysteriously as if the tree had a heart. I observed all the colours and forms for a while, made a quick sketch and took a photo reference. This painting was created referring to my notes but also my memory and feelings later in the studio.
