Driving inland to York from Perth I came across a paddock full of eucalypts in lush summer grassland. Newly washed by a rain shower their foliage colours and white trunks were intense against the thundery blue sky. And their leaves gleamed in the sunshine.
Using a raked textural underlay for the grassland, which can then be glazed, and loose painterly strokes and knife work for the trunks and foliage I have tried to capture that image.
