EROS ANCESCHI—A PERSONAL VISION
Location: Eileen Mackley Members' Room
16 Nov 2021 – 30 Nov 2021
Comprising a selection of etchings produced at the Victorian Print Workshop and the Australian Print Workshop, Fitzroy, between the mid-eighties and the new millennium.
The imagery ranges from landscape to figuration, reflecting travel in Europe as well as Melbourne life and the landscape of the Otway coast.
The series includes images from the 'Lunchtime Opera' concerts held at Theatreworks St Kilda, featuring singers from the Victorian State Opera Young Artists Program. Sketches from these performances informed the series.
The markmaking process here begins with a sketch from life, sometimes combined with accompanying sketches, into a composition developed and refined as a drawing with the aim of representation and expression. The images are based on observation and drawing.
Each image is based on a narrative open to personal interpretation.
