Gain a deeper understanding of drawing the figure through a 1 day creative workshop that equips you to tackle this challenging and rich subject.
Your teacher Nathalie will support you to see things from a different perspective as you learn to use your observational skills to break-down the figure to its basic gesture & shapes. Further hone-in on some clear building blocks and equip yourself with ways in which to study, analyse & investigate the form; completing the day with a chance to put it all into practice using your newly aquired skills with an afternoon of focus on a clothed model.
In this workshop you will cover:
Introduction to the Human Form
Gesture - Capturing Movement & Expression
Mass - Capturing the Form with Shapes
Form - Working up the Figure including rendering
Using negative space & gesture to map the figure
An introduction to expression, texture and rendering
Practical application of your skills to work from a clothed life model
Please bring along:
Drawing Pencils: Set of pencils in varying grades, from 2B - 6B.
Conté / Charcoal Pencils / Woodless Charcoal Pencils (soft, medium & hard/ black & white)
Willow charcoal of varying thinckness
Kneadable Eraser & Regular Eraser / Mechanical Erase
Masking Tape / Bulldog Clips
Stanley Knife or Craft Blade (used for sharpening)
Optional materials include:
A small hand mirror, for checking your work as you proceed.
Sandpaper for getting flat edge / point on your compressed charcoal.
Pencil extender (aid in big, loose, brushstroke mark-making)
Ruler 16” Wooden Ruler - preferred - (available through Officeworks or like)
All other materials will be provided.
