Ming Mackay studied art at London’s central school of art and Crafts and later taught at the Chelsea School of Art, In 1970 Ming moved to Melbourne and went on to teach at the VAS. She had 11 solo exhibitions and participated in 21 shared exhibitions. Ming was the first patron of the Pastel Society of Victoria. Her portrait of Pauline Toner MP was the first portrait by a female artist to be hung in the Victorian Parliament.
