Paying homage to the golden era of 1940s Australian landscape painting, Kevin Thorley reflects the spirit of the bush through scorched trees, dry undergrowth, and urgent gestures. Using quick marks in paint and paint pen across the cigar box lid, this work evokes a rugged, post-fire terrain. Its rawness and colours mirror early Australian modernists which are respected upon the 9x5 cigar box lid.
