Christina Christensen

I am a cellist, composer, and performer who has recently made Victoria home. My professional life centres on music — performing, composing, and working in Braille music transcription and accessibility — but art has been a quiet constant throughout: I have drawn and painted as an amateur for as long as I can remember.

Education

Christina Christensen is a Danish-born, East Gippsland-based composer and cellist whose work moves between classical performance, original composition, and music accessibility advocacy.

Trained at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Royal Danish Academy of Music, Christina performed professionally with the Sjællands Symphony Orchestra in Denmark and as a solo cellist at major Australian festivals including the Sydney Festival.

Her current practice centres on composition for electric and acoustic cello, integrating live electronics and looping into performance. She is also a practising Braille music transcriptionist and a longstanding contributor to music accessibility through the DAISY Consortium, Vision Australia, and the IECB Braille Music Committee.
