Carolyne Lee

A writer and translator, and more recently a beginning artist, I live and work on unceded Wurundjuri land. My sixth book, a memoir about euthanasia, was published in 2021 by Arcadia/Australian Scholarly Publishing. In 2022 I returned to my first love, art, by enrolling in a series of courses at the VAS, specifically watercolour taught by It Hao Pheh. I’m trying to organise my life so that I can devote myself to painting and writing.

Education

I have no formal qualifications in Art, but a PhD in English Literature. Until June 2015 I taught for 15 years at postgraduate and undergraduate levels in the Media and Communications Program at the University of Melbourne, Australia, finishing as Senior Lecturer. I'm currently an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in Creative Writing at the University of Melbourne.

Acknowledgment of traditional owners.

We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
