Born in Maryborough (Qld) in 1951, Bruce graduated in Architecture from the University of Queensland where the art classes were taken by Mervyn Moriaty, Neville Matthews and Milton Moon. He spent 40 years in private architectural practice in the UK, Africa, and Australasia. Bruce painted sporadically throughout his architectural career when time and opportunity permitted. After attending the classes of Ted Dansey and Julian Bruere at the VAS Bruce Baldey now exhibits mainly at members’ exhibitions. He has also exhibited successfully at Camberwell and Warrandyte.
Bruce prefers working with watercolour and oils but still uses the mixed media used in architectural practice. Bruce curated the inaugural Digital Exhibition at the VAS in 2019.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
