Aimee is a talented artist with a deep passion for both Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Her love for art began in her childhood when she first learned Chinese calligraphy and ink painting. She continued to pursue her passion for art while studying her major in Cultural Relics and Museum Studies at the University. During her time there, she not only took the History of Chinese Art and History of Western Art as a required course but also took drawing and painting as an elective. This helped her build a solid foundation for her future artistic practice.
After graduation, Aimee started a career as a curator and a professor of cultural relics at a national museum. This position provided her with more opportunities to study precious ancient Chinese paintings, further fueling her love for traditional art. Even as a busy professional, Aimee continued to engage in ink painting as a hobby, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to the arts.
Upon her move to Melbourne in 2011, Aimee was exposed to a diverse range of Western paintings displayed in numerous galleries. It was during this period that she developed a deep fondness for watercolour. Over the past 12 years, she has embarked on a journey of learning, creating, and exploring this art form which shares some similarities with ink painting, marked by her unwavering determination, continuous practice and the constant support and encouragement of her family.
Aimee's multicultural background and diverse artistic influences are evident in her artworks. Her ability to blend Eastern and Western techniques seamlessly and incorporate her unique cultural perspective adds depth and meaning to her paintings. She focuses on realism and also pays attention to the depiction of artistic conception. Her delicate use of colour and simple yet powerful brushstrokes create a fresh and natural artistic atmosphere, also conveying the emotions and significance behind each piece.
Through continuous dedication and passion for art, Aimee aspires to create more artworks that can touch the hearts and minds of viewers.
