Explore the art of portrait painting in a relaxed, supportive class designed for beginners and developing artists. Using the indirect method—a traditional, layered approach that builds depth and realism—you'll learn how to create expressive, lifelike portraits with acrylics.
The course is broken into three engaging stages:
Weeks 1–2 (2 weeks): Focus on sketching fundamentals and facial proportions to build a strong foundation.
Weeks 3–5 (3 weeks): Work from a bust to explore values, underpainting, and layering techniques.
Weeks 6–10 (5 weeks): Apply your skills in a final project painting a live model, step-by-step, from sketch to finished portrait.
Whether you're completely new to portraiture or want to deepen your technique, this course offers a clear, practical path to more confident painting.
