Our workshops support the development of your creative practice through opportunities to explore, experiment and refine your technical art making skills. Each workshop focuses on building a strong skill set for the technical execution of your art practice.
The program covers a wide range of mediums and skills such as oil painting, acrylic glazing, watercolour, drawing, ink, and sculpture. You can mix and match these classes based on your own interests!
We will also have facilitated studio days where you can work on your own projects and receive guidance from experienced VAS artists.
These workshops are intended for artists aged 15-20 and have been developed with Art Creative Practice or Art Making and Exhibiting VCE subjects or Tertiary Fine Arts courses in mind. Each workshop includes lunch. Materials will be provided for class, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have them.
Artists will have the opportunity to showcase works from these workshops in the VAS Cato Gallery as they are completed, leading up to an open day on 23 January so you can invite your friends and family to see your work on display.
Our beautiful Cato Gallery is open as a studio space on select days throughout the workshop period. Book in and bring along your own project to create in a focused environment. You're welcome to drop in any time throughout the session! You'll be supported by VAS Artist Rhi Edwards, who will be available to offer guidance. Lunch provided!
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
