Winner of the 2022 VAS George Hicks Foundation Contemporary Exhibition Award
Paul-Thomas Hicks, representing the George Hicks Foundation, presented the VAS George Hicks Foundation Contemporary Exhibition Award to winning artist, Samira Khadivizand at the Awards ceremony last night.
Last night the 2022 VAS George Hicks Foundation Contemporary Exhibition Award for $7,500 was presented to Samira Khadivizand by
Paul-Thomas Hicks, grandson of the late George Hicks.
The late George Hicks, VAS Member and exhibiting member, was awarded Life Membership of the Victorian Artists Society in 1979. Mr Hicks' name appears on the Victorian Artists Society Honours Board.
Mr Hicks was a major sponsor to the Victorian Artists Society for the Applied Chemicals Award 1968-1988, the VAS Winter Exhibition 1968-1979, the VAS Spring Exhibition 1981-1987, and the VAS Collectors Exhibition in 1980.

Dr Steven Rendall, contemporary artist and lecturer at RMIT School of Art, was the judge for the VAS George Hicks Foundation Contemporary Exhibition. As a highly accomplished artist who works across painting, video and sculpture, his works are held in many collections around the world including the National Gallery of Victoria.

During the Awards ceremony last night Highly Commended Awards in the VAS George Hicks Foundation Contemporary Exhibition were presented by the Judge, Dr Steven Rendall to the following artists: Jo Reitze VAS FVAS, Louise Foletta VAS, Ursula Tursky VAS, Fay Palmer and George Eustice.
The 2022 VAS Contemporary Exhibition Sculpture Award was presented to Ivana Maric.
Judith Leman FVAS received the Highly Commended Award for Sculpture for the VAS Contemporary Exhibition.
