Earlier this year, we were so lucky to have a family of tawny frogmouths visiting our peppercorn tree. They weren't there every day, but when they were, it felt so special. Like a visitation. Eventually only one was left. I did some drawings, and took photos, and just relished this special event. This artwork was made with masking tape, splashes and lashes of acrylic paint, pastel pencils, charcoal, painted paper cut and collaged. This technique is one of my favourite ways of making a picture, as the spontaneous marks lead the composition.
