For as long as I can remember I’ve had an interest in painting, a compulsion to explore the beautiful works that the artist of our world have given us as a legacy, and ultimately a source of great pleasure.
Like many, I’ve treasured my visits to art galleries and exhibitions all over the world. Having lived in Europe for 21 years I’ve been fortunate to take art classes with very talented artists who have contributed immeasurable to my fascination with, and love of painting.
Collecting and creating art for some 30 years now, I often reflect on what it means to me, and what the first indication, or spark on interest, in art in all its forms that I recall.
I believe it was ‘colour’. I was always attracted to the intensity, drama, and joy that colour gave me.
This interest leads me to always seek out art courses to explore my passion.
Most memorable were my 12 years in Brussels, living in a Flemish Community, everyone paints! I was delighted to be accepted into a class taught by Angele Hoovelt, albeit the classes were in Flemish..Angele offered me the use of her studio to paint at any time, then she would individually critique my work, this was an amazing opportunity.
My paintings lean towards the classic realist style, and cover many genre.
Returning to Melbourne in 2003, I continued classes with various groups. Being fortunate to exhibit my work in many exhibitions and Co-organising an Exhibition of Peruvian Art at the BMW Edge Fed Square. A painting trip to Peru being the impetus there.
A delightful Exhibition in Kew Ín an Artists Garden’. An exhibition of my work of The Great Ocean Road ‘Viewpoints’ in Torquay 2018. This was a highlight of a number of years painting the area.
The painting process gives a multitude of rewards. The challenge, diligence required, thoughtful details. Painting can teach you a lot about yourself.
‘My Journey in Art continues’. It’s a beautiful journey, one that I am always grateful that I’ve been able to take.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
