Painting Outside of the Lines in Acrylic with Olga Dziemidowicz

This class will focus on developing your ability to get loose and experimental with acrylics, supporting you to paint outside of the lines.

Supported by your teacher, you will cover:

• Approaching a range of subjects, including landscape, still life, and abstract portrait
• Picking a subject and translating it into a composition/painting
• Brush techniques for texture and interest
• Using mixed media and acrylics for special effects, covering mixing paint, crayon, pastel, and using line and charcoal in your painting
• Expanding your colour mixing knowledge (including fluro colours) with attention to value, light and dark, contrast, warm and cool tones

• Problem solving in your painting

The class will feature exercises and demonstrations,
one on one support, sharing in the group, and reflection time. 

 
 
Materials:
 

• Large quantities of acrylic paint - any colours you have.  
• min 500ml of white and yellow for the term. 
• min 240gsm paper in large sheets min 40x60cm , 56x76 , 50x70cm or similar.  2-4 sheets per class = 20-40 large sheets per term
• larger canvases (50cm and above) for later classes
• Mix of brushes - large are better
• Water containers
• Palette (cardboard box works great. I much prefer cardboard palettes to plastic ones)
• Notebook (preferably with no lines. A5 is fine, A4 and A3 great if you like to work big)
• Paper towels
• tape or clips to attach the paper to boards/tables/wall

 
Optional:

• we will use mixed media in later classes. I will communicate when to bring what but  as an idea 
• Charcoal, oil pastels, crayons, pencils
• mark making tools, palette knife, sticks, comb, art tools
• masking tape
• arcylic mediums if you have them, gel medium, painting medium etc.
