Helena Jones

I am a New Zealander living and working in Melbourne. I specialise in oil paintings of Melbourne's townhouses, landscapes, and floral still lifes.

I draw inspiration from my surroundings and aim to capture my chosen subject with sensitivity and feeling. Painting predominantly en plein air grants a refreshing immediacy to my paintings. 

I convey a feeling of vibrant life by highlighting colour and movement. This is particularly through engaging with changing light and its effects on the natural hues of my subject matter.
