The garden has provided much solace during the last couple of years. This board had once held a different painting, which was then sanded back, with traces of the previous image still coming through. I kept it in the studio for some time, wondering what would emerge. During spring, with so much abundant growth and flowering shrubs and bushes, I started to paint outside in the garden, observing many of our birds, including the beautiful and distinctive wattlebirds. Making this painting brought me a lot of joy.
