This work is inspired by the narratives of eco-farming (also called eco-logical farming) being advanced by farmers as well as conservationists. The ultimate goal of eco-farming is sustainable agriculture. It aims to preserve and develop ecosystems that, among other things, prevent soil erosion, enable water retention, and foster biodiversity. Driving through heart-breaking scenes of vacant tinder-dry paddocks during drought-affected farmland in Australia has underscored for me the need to take climate change seriously and advance the eco-farming agenda so that we may see our farmlands once again plush with pasture and animals.
